Daniel Kish: The Real Batman Teaches Blind to See

See how Daniel Kish shows how 'FlashSonar' works at 7:15. The acoustic energy that bounces back to you allows you recognize the returning echos. Flash Sonar is a 360 degrees, fuzzy 3-dimension vision, it's almost like having an X-ray vision.

He clicks his tongue and sends out flashes of sound that bounce off surfaces in the environment and return to him. He can see the world around him by interpreting the returning echoes.

This is how bats navigate through their environment, using echolocation, or sonar for short. Bats emit these high-pitched sounds that are too high for humans to hear and then listen for the echoes as they bounce off objects in their surroundings and return to them.
